It was an usual Sunday…an usual roaming in the malls…shopping through the windows…an usual outing…followed by a nice dinner at some place that serves something different from home food….it would have ended as an usual Sunday as well…but it did not…that Sunday left a mark…beating all the Sundays i have spent…challenging all the Sundays i am going to spend…people usually say -”life teaches you a lot.”…i agree to the fact….saying life teaches you most about life except anything…pardon me if i flow with my philosophical river and move away from what i intend to share…so where was i…yup…an usual Sunday…which in its birth in the dawn promised itself to be unusual…though it may have tried to whisper to me through the day into the evening…trying to mark its place as unusual…but it failed it’s purpose…in this usual Sunday night, i was there at my favorite Pizza Hut outlet with my spouse after being a part of the tiring expedition to find the right curtains matching with color of the sofa…the grand welcome followed with pleasant smiles at the outlet( i said grand since we are self supposed privilege customers), we were made to sit.after grazing through the floor, i noticed almost the same lot eating here that i encounter whenever i come to this outlet on Sundays. beside us was a family of five…the father, the mother and their three daughters.just waiting our order to reach us…i was quietly listening to the conversation happening next table(though i know this to be a bad habit, which my wife reminds me whenever she catches me!!)before i go into the over heard conversation…let me explain a little bit about the ‘family next table’…the parents were nearing forties with three daughters aging from eight years to fifteen years…chatting about everything..the father wanted to make a point to his daughters…i will try to quote his words with mine:” tell the truth…always…share it with us…talk to us…we are not like our parents…with whom we could not share anything..what we used to go through…our difficulties…our hurdles…so talk to us…we would like to hear from you…your thoughts…your difficulties…your hurdles…because we believe we can help you…guide you…see we are all running a relay race…we are passing the baton to you and …in future you will be passing the same hence forth…may be we can help you get through the hurdle since we have already crossed it with flying colors…may be we can make you aware of the potholes…to be careful…to be slow…but steady…never giving up……”i was impressed with the father so easily teaching his young daughters the basic fact of life with simple relation to a relay race…i was equally surprised with the daughters who could relate to the words their father was sharing….it may have continued some more…i didn’t get to hear more of it as our order was served.leaving the outlet…i realized…the culinary delicacies didn’t satisfy my taste buds that Sunday…it was the ‘chicken soup for soul’ that made the Sunday unusual..at last the Sunday was able to keep it’s promise…to be unusual…
